Connie Pope, a CreakyJoints member from Raleigh, North Carolina and an inveterate activist, is undertaking a project that could one day change all of our lives. She is compiling stories from people with arthritis and arthritis related conditions as well as their family and friends about what the government should or could do to help them. She will then submit this compilation in person to people on Capitol Hill who have the power to make a difference. When Connie first emailed us with her idea, we loved it, so much so that we cut and pasted part of it below:

"Do you have stories about living with Arthritis related conditions that you are willing to share for Advocacy purposes? I am putting a book together to include essays, poetry, drawings, pictures, and life stories. This book will be taken to Washington to show our legislators that we are real people with invaluable contributions to make to this country, and we are living with serious chronic illnesses that affect our quality of life. We need their help. We are here. We are real. And, we demand action. I'm hoping to put this book in their faces and show them how real we are. Eventually, I want to make copies for us to share among ourselves. But, for now it's all about advocacy."

CreakyJoints asks its members: "If you had five minutes alone with the President of the United States, what would you tell him or her about the state of arthritis in this country, and how he or she could help?"
